The H&M Garden Collection Is Completely Adorable, All Sustainable, And Well Under $60!

imageGardens aren’t really my thing, but H&M’s soon-to-be released “Garden” collection is definitely something I can wrap my head around, and the result will be much prettier than the potted orchid currently wilting on my dining table. Typical floral prints and pastel hues just never looked so good! Floaty linen and cotton adds a seventies sensibility to the collection, which is crafted from organic and recyclable materials. It’s all so playfully romantic, from rosette-adorned tops to swingy chiffon dresses, with easy-fitting tees and light-wash boyfriend jeans added to the mix. The looks exemplify the essence and simplicity of spring, as breezy silhouettes like these need not much more than a pair of tan leather shoes and a tote to take you through your day. Perhaps best of all, the collection is priced to match my sad post-holiday bank account- the items top out at $60, with most falling in the $15 – $30 range. Check out the slideshow to see my picks!

Vintage Fashionistas Carry Their Cash In Style – Stylehive

BagsStyleShoppingFashion

Vintage Fashionistas Carry Their Cash In Style Smart fashionistas know they should always calculate Cost-per-Wear (CPW) when deciding if a potential purchase is a good value. For instance, a top quality winter coat might cost more initially, but it should wear much better and last for far more years than its inferior quality cousin. So what at first glance seems like the bargain choice could actually cost you more to wear over the long run. Get it? CPW is an especially important consideration for those pieces you use frequently. And one of those frequently used pieces that is often given too little attention is your wallet. It never ceases to amaze me when I see a totally chic gal decked out perfectly from head-to-toe pulling out a ratty old wallet from a designer handbag. So why not grab one of these fab vintage wallets with price tags that will leave quite a few extra bills to tuck in the billfold and lower your CPW to a few pennies a day? Just click the slideshow to see the selection.

Beauty Bargain: Stila’s Shadow-Liner Duo Pencil Goes Drugstore-Friendly!

작성자: xgalexy@stylehive.com (Alex Gambardella)

image I’ve tested (and collected) enough makeup to know that not all beauty brands are created equal. But that doesn’t mean I don’t still compulsively hit up the Walgreens cosmetics aisle to scope out the latest bargain beauty loot! I mean, considering how much money I spend on makeup in the grand scheme of things, drugstore products are practically free (a terribly dangerous outlook, I know). Next up on my list of things I’m dying to test out is CoverGirl Smoky ShadowBlasts ($7.99 at Ulta), a double-ended pencil with shadow on one end and liner on the other. It looks remarkably similar to Stila’s Convertible Eye Color pencil, which I’ve always wanted to try but I could never bring myself to shell out $22 for a eye pencil, even if it is 2 in 1. While they both come in a wide variety of coordinating color duos, the Stila version may provide a little more accuracy given that the pencil is thinner. But hey — the key ingredient to a smoky eye is just a dash of messiness after all, so I’m still leaning towards CoverGirl for a fraction of the cost! I think I can hold my hand steady enough to achieve the look for less just fine!

Weekend Style: Women’s Sweaters

The holidays have passed, and 2010 is finally here! We have been getting dressed to the nines this past month, looking appropriately festive to spread the holiday cheer and “fabulous” vibe. All I want to do now is relax, stay within my humble abode and not leave a 10 mile radius. This means I don’t have to get all prim and proper, just comfortable. But that doesn’t mean I can’t be stylishly chic. Comfort to me means cozy sweaters

Women’s sweaters are a basic staple for a chilled season wardrobe.  Sweaters can be found with traditional necklines, cardigan styles (zip up or button up), or wrap ups; all available at different hem and sleeve lengths.

Check out the weekend styles for a basic V-neck gray sweater (tunic length):

gray sweater

(1) Day               (2) Night          (3) Coffee Run

1) Day: Wearing a V-neck tunic sweater is very versatile. With gray being the new black, this neutral is easy to mix and match with handbags and valued accessories. Layer over comfortable leggings and a camisole. Adorn your outfit with different length necklaces for a casual daytime look.

2) Night: The V-neck sweater elongates the neck and accentuates the chest area. Layer the sweater over leggings and knee high boots. Since it is night you can get away with wearing more accessories. Whether it is a belt and layered chunky necklaces, or statement jewelry, your look is put together with a night time feel.

3) Coffee Run: Need a snappy outfit for a quick caffeine trip? Just throw on your V-neck tunic over your negligee! Wear your comfy boots and go!

Disclaimer: Weekend V-neck tunic style sweaters have been styled based on California weather reports
