Make a Simple Mail Sorter How To

One of our resolutions for the New Year is to get our apartment back in pre-baby shape in terms of organization. Certain areas have fallen by the wayside since our son was born and we’re going to tackle them one by one. The first might be our landing strip which is overwhelmed by piles of mail – ingoing, outgoing, to be recycled? We’re not really sure.
Coming across this tutorial for a quick-sew mail sorter by Gina of Bright and Blithe couldn’t have happened at a better time. It’s a basic shape making this a good project for beginner sewers too. She printed out her mail categories onto card stock and then stitched that onto the fabric panels, but if you’re so inclined you could get fancy and embroider them.
You can find Gina’s mail sorter tutorial at her blog Bright and Blithe (see some of her other nifty tutorials here).

Vintage Fashionistas Carry Their Cash In Style – Stylehive
Smart fashionistas know they should always calculate Cost-per-Wear (CPW) when deciding if a potential purchase is a good value. For instance, a top quality winter coat might cost more initially, but it should wear much better and last for far more years than its inferior quality cousin. So what at first glance seems like the bargain choice could actually cost you more to wear over the long run. Get it? CPW is an especially important consideration for those pieces you use frequently. And one of those frequently used pieces that is often given too little attention is your wallet. It never ceases to amaze me when I see a totally chic gal decked out perfectly from head-to-toe pulling out a ratty old wallet from a designer handbag. So why not grab one of these fab vintage wallets with price tags that will leave quite a few extra bills to tuck in the billfold and lower your CPW to a few pennies a day? The Must-Have Book For Any Fashion Buff – Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion and Architecture – Stylehive

The latest must-have item for any fashion fan is Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion and Architecture, a 400 page artistic journey through the collaborations of this iconic luxury house. From designers and architects, to photographers and artists, Louis Vuitton can claim one of the richest and most varied associations within the world of art — and this book pays testament to them all. David LaChapelle, Annie Leibovitz, Takashi Murakami, Vanessa Beecroft and Richard Prince are just a few who have shined their light upon the living legend and unlike many books of this variety, Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion and Architecture is not a culmination of advertisements previously tried, tested (and most likely, loved by us all) it is an in depth look at what big brands can do when they invest in talent. Critical essays accompany jaw-dropping artwork, so it’s up to you whether you choose to browse or bury yourself amongst its many pages. Produced by legendary publisher Rizzoli, Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion and Architecture will not disappoint intellectuals or page turners alike. How to Wear and Use Your Scarf
The holidays are gone, and the new year is here. In the last few weeks, we’ve attended holiday parties where we’ve received receipt-less gifts that we have no idea how to use. Not sure what to do with that scarf, for example? The wrong color? Tacky print? Scarves can come from the people in our lives who don’t know much about fashion, or ourselves. Remember it was the thought that counts, regardless of how much mindfulness was put into it. If only you could take those unwanted scarves and put them to good use. Scarves are actually the most functional piece of fabric. We have endless options when it comes to using our scarves: don’t want to wear it? Use it as a decorative piece for your home!
Check out some of these ideas:
- Traditional Scarf: check out 5 Ways to Wear a Scarf for tying techniques
- Belt Sash: simply use the scarf as a belt sash, and tie around your outfit
- Shelf Liner: if the pattern or color is too busy for your body, try using this fabric over a shelf as a liner to add color to your furniture
- Canopy Cover: drape or weave your scarf over a canopy bed frame
- Art Piece: try hanging it on the wall as tapestry or framing it as an artistic piece
- Purse Ornament: Tie a scarf around the handles of your purse, schoolbag, or luggage.
- Window Cover: Drape over curtain rods/window to add a touch of color
- Blindfold: Use to cover your eyes while playing games indoors/outdoors
- Throw: Add color to your living room, and use scarves as throw over your couch or chairs
- Rag: If all else fails, use it as a cleanup rag and dispose of it!
